Seminar on Postgraduates Cultivating and Supervisor Cooperation with NCMIS, CAS
On October 12th, Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences of Shandong University held a seminar on postgraduates cultivating and supervisor cooperation with National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences on the Qingdao campus. The meeting mainly discussed the formulation of postgraduates cultivating programs, the selection of supervisors and issues related to postgraduates cultivating and supervisor cooperation. Relevant supervisors from the two centers and School of Mathematics of Shandong University attended the meeting. Professor Chen Zengjing, Dean of the School of Mathematics, chaired the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Guo Lei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the National Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Science, delivered a speech. Guo Lei proposed that the cooperative training of postgraduates is an important part of the strategic cooperation agreement between the two sides, and is the basis for the two centers to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation. Professor Guo Lei hopes that the two sides can form a scientific, reasonable, efficient and feasible training mode on this issue, and strive to be a successful example of fraternal units co-cultivating high-level postgraduates in the new situation. Zhao Yongxin, executive deputy director of the Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences of Shandong University, introduced the current situation of the center and the enrollment in 2019. Luan Yihui, deputy director, introduced in detail the current training programs, responsibilities and requirements of supervisors, and the process of supervisor selection. The supervisors discussed related issues, shared their experience and characteristics, and worked hard to find the optimal training plan. The meeting stated that the two sides will use this as a basis, cooperate closely and support each other, and strive to train high-level talents in mathematics and cross-science in the new era. The tutors communicated with the 2019 postgraduates. Two-way selection and one-to-one interviews promoted a deep understanding between supervisors and postgraduates.
After the seminar, experts and scholars went to Sifang Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. for field investigation. They had in-depth exchanges with related engineering and technical personnel, and jointly discussed the research and reference exchanges of applied technology in the new era.
