Duration

Master 3 years   (maximum 4 years)

MSc-PhD 5 years   (maximum 7 years)

Early Graduation

In principle,   students cannot graduate early. But for those who are particularly   outstanding, it can be up to one to six months in advance. In addition to completing   the courses prescribed by the training program, graduates who have graduated   in advance must have more than one SCI / CSSCI thesis published and must be   approved by the degree committee. All the research results obtained require   the graduate student to be the first author, and the author unit must be   Shandong University.

Students who do not have   specialised undergraduate educational background in the applied major have to   take one bridging course from the major’s core courses in its undergraduate   course structure.

Cutting-edge Lectures

2 points

Cutting-edge lectures are   designed to familiarize graduate students with important academic theories   and cutting-edge results in this discipline, increase the interest of   graduate students in participating in academic activities, and enhance their   academic communication capabilities.

Cutting-edge lectures   consist of two parts. One is to require graduate students to participate in a   certain number of academic activities, including various academic forums,   academic lectures, and academic conferences; the other is to require graduate   students to lecture a certain number of frontier lectures. Frontier lectures   should run through the entire process of graduate education. Before the end   of the fifth semester, students need to fulfil the "Foreign Lecture   Assessment Form" to submit the results to the Graduate Education Office.   In principle, master graduate students should participate in no less than 15   leading-edge lectures during the semester, and no less than 2 lectures with   no less than 1,000 word. The instructor will assess and evaluate the results.   The assessment results of the cutting-edge lectures will be recorded as   "pass" and "fail". "Pass" records 2 credits of   degree course

Seminar

1 point

Seminars are set up in the   direction of research or research group. The seminars are held on a regular   basis, and each session has a clear theme, requiring students to fully   participate in the discussion and start academic debate. The seminar is a   form of study with a high degree of research intensity. It aims to develop critical   thinking, stimulate innovation, and develop the ability of students to   independently engage in scientific research through direct communication and   collision of ideas among participants.

Students should attend   seminars at least every two weeks since the third semester. Each seminar   should have a complete record, and at the end of the fifth semester, it   should combine with personal thesis writing. Students need to submit an   outline of thesis writing or a first draft of the dissertation, and the   supervisor will give a comment, and submit the results to the Graduate   Education Office.
